NOTTE ELECTRONIC

Electronic performing music devices have been around since the late 19th century, however it was not until 1953 in Germany that music began being produced solely from electronic generators. In the 1970s, electronic music began having a significant influence on popular music leading the way to EDM, Laptronica, and the electronic pop songs of today.

Tangerine Dream’s most recent album Quantum Gate was released on September 29, 2017, coinciding with the 50-year anniversary of the founding of the band in 1967. They are a pivotal German electronic band and their music, which explores synthesizers and sequencers, has been profoundly influential in the development of electronic music styles such as new age and electronic dance music and electronica in general. They have over 100 albums including the UK top 20 albums Phaedra (1974) and Rubycon (1975). The group also had a successful career composing film soundtracks, creating over 60 scores. They even helped create the soundtrack for the video game Grand Theft Auto V.

Stimulus Timbre is the musical alias of Keith Farrugia. He will take us on a mind-bending journey from which we probably won’t want to return. His music is gentle and soothing and pleasing, grabbing our attention, transporting us to a faraway place where everything is always ok and nothing can go wrong. Time has no meaning here, we just float through space, feeling safe in the hands of Stimulus Timbre. Electronic sounds seduce the listener who will voluntarily want to listen again and again.

Cygna Since 1998, Mario Sammut has been magnifying unique combinations of modified ambient sounds evolved with classical instruments on an organic sound ground, all of which lead Cygna to be the birthplace of Symphonic Ambient. Film Director Jule Belami defined Cygna’s works as “otherwordly and hypnotic. A listening experience that is always a vosual experience with developing images and scenes abound in the mind’s eye”.

Duo Blank are a Maltese electronic music group, and the principal name under which musicians Edwin Balzan and Frank Cachia have recorded together since 1998. They have won various awards, including Best Soundtrack in the Los Angeles Independent Film Festival of 2001 for their music in the short film titled Genesis. Local awards include: Best Dance Live PA act in 2002, Best Techno Act in 2005 and Career Recognition Award at the Malta Music Awards in 2013.

This event is organised in collaboration with Mediterranean Conference Centre.
