O LUX CANDIDA – A Recital of Sacred Music

This recital of Sacred Music will feature an Organ Concerto on the beautiful Mascioni Organ by Organist Stephen Camilleri. The organ will also accompany Chorus Princeps Melitae, a newly formed choir, in a number of baroque and classical pieces, such as the Ave Verum by Mozart and the Ave Maria by Arcadelt. Tenor Arthur Micallef and Soprano Gabriella Farrugia will add more variety to the evening with a number of solos. A small musical Youth ensemble composed of strings, woodwind and brass instruments will also perform during the evening. The repertoire includes famous baroque pieces by Bach, Haendel, Gluck and Verdi, amongst others, together with works by some of the best Maltese Composers, such as Vincenzo Ciappara, Vincenzo Bugeja and Can. Luigi Fenech. During the evening a beautiful Antiphona to our Lady by Vincenzo Bugeja will be performed for the first time after decades. Those who love classical and sacred music, and all those who support local talent should not miss this recital.
